National Historical Archive of Belarus

The National Historical Archive of Belarus (Национальный исторический архив Беларуси) is a republican state archive and serves as a scientific, research, and methodological center for working with documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus. The archive is part of the state archival system and reports directly to the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of Belarus.

Its primary mission is to accumulate, preserve, account for, and provide access to documents from the National Archival Fund covering the period from the late 14th century until 1917. The archive holds records originating from judicial institutions of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and later, after Belarus became part of the Russian Empire, from civil courts, magistrates, town halls, district courts, and private individuals. It also contains documents from the Vilnius Archive of Ancient Acts and the Vitebsk Archive of Ancient Registry Books.

This archive is an essential resource for genealogical research in Belarus, including court records, civil registrations, legal documents, and historical administrative records.
